VOLTEDGE started in 2004 with eleven people rebuilding failed drive boards for textile mills. Twenty-one years later we run three plants, employ 1,240 people, and ship into 47 countries — but the founding brief has not moved: build the part that keeps the machine running.

Manufacturing companies rarely grow smoothly; they grow when something forces them to. Ours were a customer audit we failed, a currency crisis, a certification we could not buy our way into, and a fire. Each one changed how we build.

A German OEM audited us and stopped at traceability. We rebuilt the entire shop-floor system around unit-level records, and passed the re-audit eight months later. That system is still the backbone of our MES.
Automotive certification opened tier-two supply. Ludhiana II came online with two additional SMT lines, AOI and in-line X-ray.
The TitanCore SiC programme moved us from board assembly into our own silicon-carbide converter designs, and with it into grid, storage and traction markets.
Sensor and instrumentation manufacturing consolidated in Pune; four regional stocking hubs opened to cut delivered lead time for export customers from 11 weeks to 3.
We do not run mixed-model chaos. Each plant owns a technology, which is why yields hold when volume moves.
28,000 m². Four SMT lines with 0201-capable placement, selective soldering, vacuum potting, 6 kV dielectric test and a 400 kW regenerative load bank for full-power burn-in.

A converter that works but cannot be certified is worthless to an OEM. Our compliance team sits inside engineering, not beside it, so certification constraints shape the design rather than ambush it at the end.
Every reel is verified against an approved-vendor list with X-ray count, moisture-sensitivity level logging and lot capture into the MES. Counterfeit screening uses decapsulation sampling on brokered parts, which we buy only under written customer authorisation.
Solder paste inspection after print, AOI after reflow, X-ray on every BGA and bottom-terminated component, plus first-article approval at each changeover. Process capability is tracked live; a Cpk excursion below 1.33 stops the line.
HALT to destruction on new platforms, then thermal cycling per IEC 60068-2-14, vibration per 2-6, damp heat per 2-78, salt mist where specified, and EMC pre-compliance in our own chamber before the accredited lab visit.
Each serialised unit resolves to its component lots, operator IDs, reflow profile, test results and packing date. Records are retained ten years and can be exported to your quality system on request.
No form, fit, function or process change reaches a customer part without a written PCN and, where the agreement requires it, your approval. Silent substitutions are a disciplinary matter here.
Rooftop solar and a PPA cover 62 % of plant electricity; target is 90 % by 2029.
